Laser vision correction is a term that refers to a laser surgical procedure performed to reshape the cornea so that light rays entering the eye focus on the retina. There are two commonly performed laser procedures to correct vision, PRK and LASIK. Both procedures correct near-sightedness or myopia, far-sightedness or hyperopia and astigmatism. PRK stands for photorefractive keratectomy. LASIK stands for laser in-situ keratomileusis. Not all patients are candidates for laser vision correction due to corneal problems or systemic illness. Dr. Block will be happy to discuss with you the best way to correct your vision to suit your lifestyle.
